You can't really hear the vocals in this one.
Best song by them isn't on spotify
literally boutta play this later tonight, any fellow percussionists here???
i play fortnite
i played this my 7th grade year. covid hit my 8th grade year. we were so excited to go to our district festival for this song. makes me miss middle school band and now i’m a senior in highschool and i get so emotional when i hear this song
Gosh I had so much fun playing this in jr high <3 flute part was so fun! This and Light Calvary Overture get stuck in my head aaaaaaall the time i won't even lie
TUBA SOLO MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED
Flutes and trumpets carried
no shit they play the melody but they did NOT carry, low brass did a ton and without them it would sound a bit empty
@@reallyepicguy fr i play baritone and its very hard especially 32
This brings back memories. As the only low woodwind. Im losing it.
PERCUSSION ON TOP
Got recommendation from Obake PAM Ch.
I like Dream Theater, but I wish people would leave Queen songs alone. They are the hardest band to cover and also there is no outdoing them
You should listen to Tenement Funster/Flick of the wrist cover by Dream Theater. They made Original songs sound like covers. I would say that these guys are the hardest ones to cover, for having really exhausting time signiature changes all the time and complex vocals. (Not even mentioning the job they do with instruments, unlike Queen which only had a great vocalist, drummer and bassist were pretty average) I am not trying to be insulting, but you really should consider giving this guys attention they truly deserve.
@@CARNAGE25 I have and it was good. The technology today is so much better, the mix ,pitch control and obvious auto tune."flick of the wrist"was made for Labrie I must admit. The trinity is on my playlist for both bands. "Lily of the valley" is a daunting task for any vocalist.Freddie wrote in such strange chords.also keep In mind Queen wrote these songs which is the hardest part, and they recorded their version in 1974!
as a flute player, i died while playing this

Blood stained faces bodies torn apart Tear stained eyes and fists clenched longing for revenge Bearded men gun - toting men Chanting praises to their god Screaming "Martyrs never Die." Is it true that a picture says a thousand words? Or in our case is it a thousand lies? Our eyes, Our Ears In the Foreign world are just a source of Glowing facades More deaf and dumb then us ourselves I'd rather blame the oppressor Than blame the oppressed Darkness cloaks the Holy Land Sprinkled with asperity of sin Now tell me when will they be free? Our eyes, Our ears In the foreign world are just a source of glowing facades More deaf and dumb then us ourselves Everyday we flip through the channels expecting the truth But what do we see? The vilified become the victims And the oppressors become the oppressed How can we live our lives? How can we sleep at night? Knowing that our brothers and sisters in humanity Are being stripped of their homes I'm asking you to stand up and make a difference Cause it's pretty clear that the only solution is liberation Our eyes our ears In the foreign world are just a source of glowing facades More deaf and dumb than us ourselves "Martyrs never DIE!"
I love this song from a french hornist perspective
oh the nostalgia
ayee i played this for my spring concert on the snare drum
as the trumpet soloist for this piece in middle school, i love it.
SAMEE
Ditto!
I'm playing it this year, and I love it
Samee
the last time my band played this, i started sobbing and i swear a song has never made me feel that way
There a special part in this that makes me cry every time I hear it. I imagine playing this at Highschool graduation and the people crying and stuff and it makes me tear up so much. The fact that William Himes passed away not too long ago doesn't help it either. Godspeed, William Himes.
2:25 is when the sad part begins btw. It continues until 4:00

Awesome song!
I'm playing bari sax for this one, and am absolutely loving it. Anyone know if it's from anything?
God this sounds so good when people actually know the music. Currently the trumpets in my band can’t keep their shit together
Exactly😭😭
How dare these pieces of shit piss over a Mona Lisa. Who the fuck do they think they are?
Percussion is a W on this song
When I was in 7th grade, one of my band mates bought the whole score and parts for this song because he wanted us to play. Obviously our band director knew we couldn't handle but the kid DID pay for it, so director let us try and it was bad lmao. Thankfully I got to play it couple years later
Low brass euphonium for life, baybee!
Man playing this om the trumpet was so good always had the chills whenever I played
Anyone else notice that Just Defy could also be Justify?
Almost passed out playing this song on first trumpet
Damn, if anyone in the foreseeable future actualy plays this, and sees this will you please reply to this message... all the other comments are 3-5 years old
So this is what it sounds like without the altos rushing.
I'm a 1st Trombone, anyone else?
2 years ago lmao 💀
They should do a full cover
Check out the cover they did of the three meshed Queen songs "tenement funster/flick of the wrist/ lily of the valley" Again,I wish people would leave Queen songs alone, but not awful.
This is a fun song for first trombone
god, I haven't heard this since I played it in high school. Such a great piece of music!
Has anyone seen Roldo?
I had the trumpet solo in this. My favorite solo from middle school.
I have a neat little story of why I'm here. So how did I find out about this band? Well, I first got curious about the history of Blender, the 3D modelling and animation software, after seeing on Twitter the work of a man with 20 years of experience with the application. I didn't fathom Blender to be over 20, so I went to investigate on Wikipedia. Scrolling through the page, I was curious to know the origins of the test model, Suzanne, a model of a chimpanzee head (named in-program as "monkey"). Apparently, the man who modelled her named Suzanne after the orangutan from that one Kevin Smith buddy comedy movie (I don't know the name, and I'm too lazy to look it up). So as I was curious to learn more, I wandered around the Wikipedia page for that movie, and I skimmed to the bottom, and I found a controversy section when a supposed Matthew Shepard Foundation said "naw, son, stop gay jokes" and some legal shenanigans made the movie make donations or some shit and reference such in the movie's credits. Since I, being a gay myself, am interested in the history of sexual orientation, I pressed on to know more. Going further to learn about the history of the foundation and the titular Matthew Shepard. I looked up the guy's Wikipedia page, and I scrolled on, cried at his story, yada-yada... then I looked into the deep pit of media inspired by the guy's tragic death and the black swan in LGBT rights therein. In there, I saw this band's album, A Calculated Use of Sound, and this song referenced Shepard's necrogeography, Leramie, in the title. Interested in elaborate, ostentatious titles such as this, I decided to check this album out, maybe add it to my collection of tunes to play in my room while modelling for a consecutive 4 or so hours. It's okay, I guess; maybe, if I was in the mood to find a mix of rock and screaming metal, I'd stumble upon this album, but I'd give it a pass because I'd say it added a little too much of the screaming. Not saying it's bad, just not my taste. But, oh, for sure, the story of how I got here from trying to learn about the history of a 3D software is a cool story on degrees of separation, though. Anyway, thanks for sticking around in this little corner of the internet, now go hydrate yourself, cheers.
Maybe check teir other stuff, plenty of variety and interesting stuff, also much better compared to this.
all 209k views are from me
Wow this slipped under my radar for a decade somehow!
Played this for district on trumpet.. so beautiful!
Bruh I haven’t played this since middle school and I was 1st clarinet now I’m a god damn college student . Lowkey wish I was still playing but dropped out of band junior year of high school cause I had to be a follower and quit it with my friends
this song always makes me feel like it belongs on a train scene of a movie
Wow - I’d never thought of that interpretation, but now that you mention it, I think it totally fits!
음?드림시어터치고 평이하다했더니 곡이 순서가 바뀌었네
I live how many 1st Clarinet comments there are, I’m 1st cl. and this is the song that really made me start loving it, now I’m going to school to be a high school band director 😂 I hope I’ll be able to program this someday
Best of luck!
I was going to play this but the concert got canceled. :(
we were too:(
this song is the only reason i got through middle school.
